The Algoma District School Board (ADSB) is seeking applications for ADSB Indigenous Graduation Coach.
Cultural Navigator - Elementary (Blind River & Elliot Lake)
10 Month - Full Time Contract Position

The Indigenous Graduation Coach - Cultural Navigator will work under the direction of the board/school administrative team to assist school communities within Algoma District School Board in improving overall success for Indigenous students (First Nation, Métis and Inuit). The Indigenous Graduation Coach - Cultural Navigator will assist with leading and implementing programs, services and other supports to meet the unique needs of
Indigenous students and their families. The Cultural Navigator will collaborate with school staff, parents/guardians, Indigenous community partners and outside agencies to build networks and supports to foster success, confidence and identity for Indigenous students. As a member of the Graduation Coach Team, the Cultural Navigator will play a crucial role in assisting all staff to improve achievement, well-being and graduation rates for Indigenous students. As such, the Cultural Navigator will assist in connecting students and school staff to appropriate cultural connections throughout ADSB to best support the needs of Indigenous Education moving forward. This position will be based in Blind River and Elliot Lake.

Required Skills:
Position Qualifications & Requirements:
- Ontario High School Diploma or equivalent, as well as a degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies/Services, First Nations Family Support/Community Worker, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, working with and supporting youth.
- Familiarity with local First Nations, Inuit and Métis Cultures and experience working with Indigenous students, their families and communities within our region is required.
- Possess strong organizational and communication skills, proficient computer skills, willingness to be flexible and able to work cooperatively with others.
- A valid driver's license and the willingness and ability to travel for school board related business is required.
